With a libretto by Giuseppe Petrosellini, the work is based on the play by Pierre Beaumarchais. In the plot, Count Almaviva falls in love with Rosina, an intelligent young woman watched over by the possessive Bartolo, who also intends to marry her. To win her heart, the Count turns to the witty barber Figaro. From then on, various disguises and tricks are devised to bring the two together, in a story full of refined humor, misunderstandings, and twists.
